The annual Boloencierro summer festival was held in the Spanish town of Mataelpino on Friday. Traditionally people run from raging bulls down the town’s winding streets, but from 2011 onward residents substituted bulls for giant polystyrene balls. Two kinds of balls were used – children run from balls weighing up to 60 kilograms while the adults’ balls weigh 200 kg each. Although the run is not as dangerous as it was with bulls, Civil Defense personnel attended the event to provide assistance if needed.
