Thousands take part in Brazil Carnival festivity

Tens of thousands people both performers and spectators gathered on Monday at Sambadrome as Rio de Janeiro's carnival entered its second night of over-the-top festivities. Thousands of performers carpeted the entire half-mile avenue in the famed Sambadrome with fluorescent orange-and-yellow costumes and Halloween-like floats.

Many people also gathered outside the Sambadrome to watch the festivities through a fence, in seats installed by the municipality for people who couldn't afford to buy tickets to the venue.
