Hundreds of people protested in Manila on Thursday after Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte recently announced that he would expand his declaration of martial law nationwide. Demonstrators burned a huge effigy of the Philippines leader while chanting slogans and delivering speeches from a platform with banners depicting Duterte as Hitler. Former Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos introduced martial law with Proclamation No. 1081 on September 21, 1972. Since then martial law has brought massive human rights violations and extrajudicial killings.
