Students clash with police during protest in Myanmar
About 200 protesters clashed with Myanmar police on Tuesday at a rally protesting a new education law. Police pummeled the demonstrators with batons and dragged some of them into trucks. Around 100 arrests were made, Reuters reported. The protesters began their sit-in over a week ago on a road near a monastery in Letpadan, after police barred them from marching to Yangon, the country's biggest city. The demonstrators want the government to scrap a newly passed education law which they say deprives academic freedoms.
