Violence erupted in the Tunisian border town of Ben Guerdane on Wednesday as around 150 protesters rallied against halting of cross-border trade with neighboring Libya. The demonstrators set tires on fire and threw stones at police. According to the local media, the police used tear gas to disperse the protesters, and no arrests were made. In April 2016, Libyan authorities cut free trade across the border following an attack by Islamic State on the city.
