Over a dozen people have been arrested after police in the south of France moved in to clear a protest camp at the Sivens dam project site. The site has been occupied by environmental activists, a group known as the “Zadistes”, since October 2013 and made world-wide headlines after a young man, Rémi Fraisse, was killed by a police stun grenade in October last year. His death sparked demonstrations nationwide. Police have twice removed people from the site, most recently in May 2014, but both times they returned.
