199 young couples took part in a mass wedding in the Chechen capital of Grozny on Thursday, coinciding with the 199th anniversary of the founding of the city. Chechen wedding rituals include leading the bride to a spring, so that she knows the place from where she will carry water to her new house. This rite serves as a signal that the girl should be treated like a married woman.
