Thousands of protesters came out onto the streets of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro on Thursday, to decry Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff’s decision to appoint her predecessor Lula da Silva as chief of staff. Crowds marched through the streets carrying placards and flags, with some people depicting Lula as a prisoner. Lula da Silva has faced charges of corruption and money laundering, relating to the ongoing Petrobras scandal.
