A Turkish flag was set on fire as tens of thousands of people took to the streets of Yerevan on Sunday to commemorate the 102nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. People from all across Armenia arrived in the capital to take part in a torchlight procession which started from Freedom Square and continued on to the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial.
In April 1915, the Ottoman Empire (also known as the Turkish Empire) started to decimate its civilian Armenian population. Thousands were deported or placed in concentration camps and around 1.5 million people died.
