Around 15,000 revelers performed a traditional New Year’s Dive, which is held every year at Scheveningen beach in The Hague. Clad only in swimwear, the bathers raced across the sand to take an icy dip in the North Sea. The ‘Nieuwejaarsduik’ (New Year’s Dive) tradition dates back to 1960 and is celebrated in more than 130 locations around the Netherlands.
