China’s Cold War-era ‘816 Nuclear Military Plant’, hidden under mountains in the Chongqing district, opened its doors to the public for the first time in October. The project was the world's largest artificial cave and started in 1966 when Sino-Soviet relations dramatically declined. It aimed to enhance China's national defense and prevent possible Soviet invasion and nuclear attack.
