Around 10,000 people gathered at a beach in Scheveningen in the Netherlands to dive into the cold North Sea water for the traditional New Year's Day dive.
The Scheveningen dive's 56th edition witnessed a clear blue sky this year, with temperatures of about 8.5 degrees Celsius. The dive at the Hague's seaside resort is the biggest in the country. There are annually up to 138 New Year's dives in the Netherlands, in which an estimated 51,000 people participate. There were no incidents of hypothermia or other first aid cases reported.
