Two workers have been killed and 29 are still missing after a fire broke out on an offshore oil platform, operated by Azerbaijan's state-owned energy company SOCAR, in the Caspian Sea on Saturday. According to SOCAR, the fire started Friday evening after a gas pipeline was damaged by strong winds at an oil rig in the Gunashli field, southeast of the Neft Daslari (Oil Rocks) settlement. Stormy weather and poor conditions hampered the rescue operation. The fire was reportedly extinguished.
