William Whiteman is a correspondent at RT International in Moscow. William covered Turkey’s dramatic crackdown on its Kurdish community in 2015, becoming one of the first broadcast reporters to enter the ravaged town of Cizre after the 24-hour government curfew was lifted. His reports were used to help launch RT’s #JusticeForKurds petition on change.org and were submitted to the UN Human Rights Council. Prior to joining RT in Moscow, he worked at the Ruptly news agency in Berlin. Originally from London, he studied Media Practice and Theory at Sussex University.
