Students and anti-capitalist activists took to the streets of Milan on Friday to demonstrate against a series of education reforms and to demand Minister of Education Valeria Fedeli resign. Students protested against job-placement schemes and entry exams and required more resources for underfunded educational establishments across Italy. Tension flared when hooded demonstrators threw eggs, tomatoes, and paint at chain-stores, including McDonald’s and ZARA, where many students reportedly work.
