Around 1,200 people participated in the large-scale “Borodino Day” re-enactment at the International Military Historical Festival in the Moscow Region on Sunday to mark the 205th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812. Cavalry and infantry clanked swords recreating the unique rear-guard action of the Battle of Shevardino Redoubt. In 1812, that fight preceded the decisive Borodino Battle between Napoleon's army and Russian troops. This year's performance was staged with guest participants from Belarus, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, the UK and France.
