A group of young men, who, according to the local Ukrinform news agency, were nationalists belonging to the C14 (‘Sich’) radical movement, forced itself into a small peaceful rally on May Day in the town of Vinnitsa, West Ukraine. The men then incited a brawl with police officers and some marchers.
The nationalists were seen tearing red flags reading ‘Socialists’ and ‘Union of left forces’ from the demonstrators, who came to mark the holiday. Police intervened, separating over a dozen attackers from the crowd and forcing them to leave. No one was injured, according to a police statement.
