An all-male group of 12, who call themselves 'the Bibis', participated in a Swiss carnival in Payerne's Old Town. They were wearing burkinis while parading atop a float designed as a swimming pool where "all forms of attire are accepted." According to the group's president, 'the Bibis' wanted to give a message of "hope, peace and openness."

Many German speaking countries celebrate Carnival in the week leading up to Lent, welcoming spring and driving away the 'winter spirits.'
