Valentine’s Day celebration for animal couples at Detroit zoo

A Valentine’s Day-themed event was held for animal couples at the Detroit Zoo in the suburb of Royal Oak. Penguins, camels, polar bears, bush dogs and wolves featured in the romantic-themed event, labeled ‘Heart Fest.’ Zoo workers gave heart-shaped piñatas to wolves and icy treats to penguins and polar bears in an effort to ensure that their animal habitats are complex and changing.

The Detroit Zoo will also be holding an adults-only ‘Love Gone Wild’ event on Valentine’s Day, February 14, which will offer a close-up look at the mating habits of zoo animals.
