Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of the largest city in Lesbos – Mytilene – on Friday, to condemn the recent spate of deaths in Greek refugee camps. The demonstrators demanded improvements be made in the living conditions for refugees, and for the camp of Moria to be closed, where half of the 6,000 refugees on the island are sheltered now. On the same day, people took to the streets of Athens to show their solidarity with refugees and protest against the recent deaths. Three asylum-seekers died of carbon monoxide poisoning from makeshift heaters in Lesbos in the six days between January 24 and 30.
