One of the oldest and largest castles in the world, the Citadel of Aleppo, is once again open for visitors following the liberation of the northern Syrian city of Aleppo from militants in December.
Russian soldiers and Aleppo locals were among the first to go on a tour of the Citadel, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986. Usage of the Citadel has been traced back to at least the third millennium BC.
