The Tanaro River in Piedmont, Italy, breached its banks following torrential rains. Worsening weather conditions forced officials to raise red alerts in Liguria and Piedmont, yellow alerts in the Valle d’Aosta and Tuscany. Residents attempted to veer the water away from their houses by building makeshift log dams and cleared roadside gutters to encourage quicker drainage. No reported injuries.
