Three people were killed and around 3,500 were evacuated as flash flooding swamped large areas of Louisiana State on Wednesday. Emergency services rescued families in the town of Haughton, taking them to safety from houses submerged up to the roof. A state of emergency has been declared in the region over fears that millions may be affected in what the National Weather Service has described as a 'historic' flooding event.
