Hundreds of protesters in New York City picketed NBC studios in Rockefeller Center to denounce the decision to have Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump host the iconic US comedy show ‘Saturday Night Live.’

The protest was organized by several pro-immigrant and anti-racist groups. Protester held up signs condemning Trump’s appearance on the show and chanted slogans including “Dump Trump.” A handful of Trump supporters gathered on the opposite side of the street to counter the anti-Trump protest.

Trump has generated controversy in recent months over a string of comments he has made during his Republican presidential campaign, including frequent outbursts condemning illegal migration.

Ahead of Saturday night’s show, over 500,000 signatures were delivered to the network’s office demanding that Trump be removed from Saturday Night Live’s roundup.
