Thousands of people gathered in Villafranca del Penedes, Catalonia, Spain on Sunday to watch teams compete to create the largest human tower, known as a “castell,” as part of the festival of St Felix. Some of the towers stretched up to 15 meters into the air. Castells are built traditionally during the festivities taking place in many locations around Catalonia. On 2010, castells were declared to be amongst the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
