Tens of thousands of torch-wielding protesters marched on the Presidential Palace in the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa on Friday evening, calling for President Juan Orlando Hernandez to resign. Protesters demanded an international investigation into a series of corruption allegations that have rocked the country's cabinet. Riot police and military personnel stood guarding the Presidential Palace, and no major clashes were reported. The protests followed a $200- million (€179 million) corruption scandal at the Honduran Institute of Social Security involving government members.
