Students and teachers demonstrating over the September 2014 Iguala kidnapping, clashed with police around a highway tunnel outside the town of Tixtla in the Mexican state of Guerrero on Wednesday. Police officers were trapped inside the tunnel when protesters blocked all entrances, injuring four officers. Police responded with teargas and rubber bullets. In December 2014, an independent investigation found that Federal Police were involved in the disappearances, handing the students over to local gang members. Allegations of political and police corruption have led to mass protests throughout the country.
