Around 300 Palestine supporters held a demonstration commemorating those displaced following the Israeli Declaration of Independence in 1948. A group of protesters brandishing Israel flags attempted to confront the rally, whose attendees included a group of Orthodox Jews. Internationally commemorated, Nakba Day, means "day of the catastrophe". The day marks the 1948 Palestine War, where an estimated 700,000 Palestinians fled or were expelled, and villages destroyed.
