Forces of the self-proclaimed Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics continued withdrawing heavy weapons from their frontline positions in Lugansk and Donetsk regions in Eastern Ukraine. Columns of 2S1 Gvozdika 122-mm self-propelled howitzers, T-64 battle tanks, military supply trucks and APCs were withdrawn with OSCE observers monitoring the pullback.
The withdrawal is being carried out after the ceasefire agreement brokered two weeks ago in Minsk by leaders of France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine. According to the deal, both government and rebel forces must withdraw heavy weaponry including rocket systems and artillery 50 kilometers (31 miles) from the line of contact within two weeks.
