The astonishing footage of the abandoned Blub swimming and leisure center in Berlin was captured by Ruptly’s drone Tuesday. Opened in 1985, at a cost of the equivalent of €22 million to erect, the center used to attract around 600,000 visitors a year. However, it was shut down in 2005 because of the large numbers of rats entering the grounds from the nearby Teltow canal.
A decade after its closure, the site of the former 40,000 square-meter leisure complex is bedecked with street art and rubbish, and is used by urban explorers and wildlife.
