Trump is ‘a jerk & bully’: Fox News contributor blasts president over ‘sexist’ tweet

Marie Harf called Donald Trump ‘a jerk’ and ‘a bully’ as the former State Department spokesperson condemned the US president over a recent tweet about Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-New York).

The broadside by the Fox News contributor marks a new low in the standoff between President Trump and the mainstream media. On Tuesday, she expressed her condemnation of the president’s online behavior in her own way.

“He is a jerk, he is just a bully,” Harf said, referring to Trump’s tweet targeting New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

"The president of the United States made basically a tweet that has sexual innuendo in it. I think we can all agree there is only one way to read his tweet toward Senator Gillibrand," she told the panel.

The war of words between Trump and Gillibrand started as the senator called for the US leader to resign over allegations of sexual assault. Trump responded in a characteristically brash manner, tweeting that Gillibrand used to “beg” him for campaign donations and cryptically added that she would “do anything for them.”

The tweet immediately sparked controversy, with the senator and her fellow Democrats calling it a “sexist smear.” However, Trump’s supporters said that the president was simply calling out Gillibrand for hypocrisy while the Democrats are pushing allegations of sexual assault.
