Get your head in the game: World’s 1st VR gym opens in San Francisco (VIDEO)
The world’s first virtual reality gym just opened in San Francisco, offering a next-generation workout via a computer games-based distraction technique that aims to put the fun back into exercising.
Black Box VR promises a gym experience like no other by giving users a full-body workout while virtually immersed in another world that requires them to fight battles and beat their opponent.
While diet and exercise will always be the foundation of losing weight and burning fat, distraction is the key to keeping gym-goers motivated, according to Kayla Abeyta, Black Box VR manager.

“The future of fitness is here! Virtual reality. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had the privilege to be taken through a workout today by Ryan DeLuca and @prestonjlewis at Black Box VR at their San Francisco gym. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This a REAL, athletic workout with engaging entertainment built in. It felt great.” - Skip La Cour (Team Universe Overall Champion)
Each session lasts 30 minutes, in which the user plays a video game with the help of a self-automated resistance cable machine. The system includes the world’s first “hands free” VR controllers, in which sensors track your movements.
