Polish parliament speaker threatens satirical mag with legal action over underage sex report

The speaker of the Polish parliament has demanded that a satirical magazine apologize and donate money to a Catholic charity after it claimed that he was filmed having sex with an underage prostitute.
Marek Kuchcinski will seek “decisive legal action,” using “all options of civil and criminal proceedings” against ‘Nie’ (‘No’) magazine, the parliament’s spokesperson said. He filed a complaint to the prosecutors’ office, arguing that the paper’s piece about him may be tantamount to defaming a public official.
Described in the media as a left-leaning satirical magazine, last Friday ‘Nie’ alleged that Kuchcinski is the man in the rumored sex tape, which is said to involve a high-ranking official from the ruling conservative Law and Justice party (PiS) and an underage Ukrainian sex worker.
The existence of the tape was reported several weeks ago in another publication, which cited a former Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) agent known as ‘Wojciech J.’ The man said that the sexual encounter took place in 2017 and that CBA officials tried to cover it up, pressuring him to muzzle the probe into the alleged incident.
The reports also suggested that a PiS lawmaker tried to acquire the tape in exchange for receiving an influential position. But the lawmaker vehemently denies this.
Speaker Kuchcinski, a devout Catholic and a family values campaigner, also slammed the allegations as “unprecedented, false and a disgusting insinuation.” He demanded the magazine issue an apology and donate 15,000 zloty ($3,925) to a Catholic charity as compensation.
The CBA released a statement, saying that the claims made by its former agent were “not confirmed” and that the man didn’t provide any proof of his allegations.
