“US security should be one step ahead of terrorists”

To make the US a safer place, the country’s security operatives should stop acting on the defensive, said Kristen Soltis, director of policy research at the Winston group.

“We are always in a state of playing defense – after the shoe bomber we all had to take our shoes off at the airport, after the attempted bombing using liquids now we have to take our liquids in small containers,” she said. “We are always playing defense. I think it is going to take a real change to encourage those who deal with homeland security in the US to think proactively to stay ahead of the terrorists rather than one step behind.”
