Avatar: Welcome to your new body!
Long before the highly-anticipated premiere of the sci-fi blockbuster of the year and its global release on December 17, film insiders around the world were already quoted as saying that “Avatar” will revolutionize filmmaking and become a role model of 3D animation, special effects and inimitable style for years to come.
However, special film techniques are not the be-all and end-all in “Avatar”. There is also a powerful human factor. The fact of the matter is – every tiny bit of the performance that you see on the screen in “Avatar” has been crafted by the actors themselves.
Thanks to state of the art technology a non-professional can hardly grasp or imagine, Oscar-winning director James Cameron said they were able to get 100% of what each actor did in the moment.
One of them, the star of “Star Trek” Zoe Saldana, shared her impressions with RT's Valeria Paikova on how she felt to be playing a computer-generated character in “Avatar”.
Don’t miss RT’s interview with the film’s producer, Jon Landau, on Saturday.
