With 99 percent of precincts reporting, Donald Trump was declared the winner in Florida by AP and other news outlets, with percent of the vote to Clinton's 47 percent.

Florida has been called for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, giving him the Sunshine State’s 29 electoral votes. After a tough fight, the swing state is a big win for the Trump campaign and the Republican Party.

The state’s high electoral votes made it a hot commodity and Clinton owes her victory to support in Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Tallahassee.

The Florida polls were so intense that a scuffle between a Trump supporter and one other voter resulted in a police intervention. Additionally, two poll workers were fired for “violating professional standards when they responded to a disagreement between two poll watchers,” USA Today reported.

The importance of Florida in the Electoral College was not lost on its voters. Turnout was the highest in US history, CBS News reported.

Clinton supporters shared their disappointment with the state of Florida on Twitter.
