No more snooze: Annoying alarm clock won’t turn off until you stand on it
“Ruggie” is a pressure sensitive alarm clock that forces you to get out of bed.
The alarm comes with no snooze option and doesn’t stop ringing until you stand on it with both feet for three seconds.
It will not be fooled by simply kicking one foot out onto touch the mat, either.
The product has been launched on Kickstarter and has already more than doubled its $36,000 target with 51 days to go. The alarm clock rugs currently cost $59, but will retail at $99 once launched.
Winson Tam, inventor of the Ruggie, says he created it because of his own habit of “over snoozing.” He’s marketing the product as life-changing and “the world’s best alarm clock.”
A promotional video promises there will be “no more losing to the snooze” with the help of Ruggie.
The overzealous early bird intentions don’t stop there, either – once you’ve stood on the mat, it will give you a “daily motivation” to start you on your day.
The Ruggie makers even promise it will add days to your life. “If Ruggie can help you wake up even 5 minutes earlier, assuming you live to 80 years old, you would have gained 100 days to your life,” the Kickstarter states.
And if you aspire to be the next Bill Gates or Barack Obama, you’re on the right track, according to Ruggie, which cites the men as being among America’s most successful early birds.
