‘I find racist jokes funny’: UKIP backs EU election candidate despite use of racial slurs

Carl Benjamin, aka Sargon of Akkad, will remain as one of UKIP’s candidates in the upcoming EU elections, despite a video emerging of the YouTuber using offensive language including racial slurs such as “n****r” and “ch*nk.”

A now-deleted video from 2015, obtained by anti-fascist group Hope not Hate, shows Benjamin repeatedly using vile racial slurs as well as insults describing two people as a “fag” and a “retard.”

UKIP defended the controversial vlogger, explaining that Benjamin was fighting “political correctness,” and vowed that he would “remain on the UKIP ticket.”

In an interview with Sky News on Thursday, the self-styled “free speech” YouTuber, who has over 950,000 subscribers, stood by his comments, insisting: “Personally, I find racist jokes funny.”

It comes after Gerard Batten, UKIP’s leader, came out in support of Benjamin after the candidate said he “wouldn’t even rape” a female MP. Benjamin attempted to justify the remarks by claiming women should be treated the same as men.

That means if a woman is being a giant b***h and laughing at male suicide, I’m going to be a giant d**k back to her.

Benjamin, better known under his YouTube moniker Sargon of Akkad, is standing for election in the South West region of the UK in the EU elections on May 23. He has promised that if he wins the election, he will use his seat in the European Parliament to finally give Britain what it voted for in the 2016 referendum – an exit from the EU.

He has also pledged to fight the controversial Article 13 of the Copyright Directive, undermine EU’s influence over national governments of member states, fight “all manifestations of radical leftism” and expose them to his YouTube channel’s audience. He also plans to oppose mass immigration into Europe.
