‘Bubbly’ naked cleaners wanted: Racy ad placed on govt job website
A woman in her 30s from Yorkshire was left in shock after she stumbled on the online ad, which promises an hourly pay of between £25-100 ($34-135) for girls willing to strip off their clothes and clean their client’s house naked.
The Fantasy Cleans job ad features the picture of a blonde woman wearing white lingerie while scrubbing a toilet floor. Clients are told they can: “Sit back while they do all the dirty work. We are happy to assist you with any requests you have.”
Applicants should be “bubbly, chatty and friendly house-proud girls and guys to work on a self-employed basis.
“We look for all ages (21+), shapes, sizes, and nationalities,” the ad reads. “You must be comfortable being naked around people, including other Fantasy Cleans girls/guys and clients. Body confidence is a must! Must be able to clean and iron to a good standard.”
The job seeker who reported the ad on the government’s Universal Jobmatch website said it made her feel “embarrassed and distressed,” before adding: “I thought that sort of attitude of the objectification of women was in the past.” The woman reported the ad to her MP, Labour’s Naz Shah, who in turn said: “My staff were absolutely appalled.”
“The constituent, a single woman on Jobseeker’s Allowance, facing extreme financial hardship, drew our attention to the advert on the government’s own job search platform. Government austerity has created such a hostile environment that people feel desperate. It is the normalization of sex work and exploitation of the vulnerable. It is appalling.”
Last night the Department for Work and Pensions said: “We have removed the job advert for breaching Jobmatch terms and conditions.”
