Wild goose chase: MLB game descends into chaos as bird invades stadium (VIDEO)

Fans at a Major League Baseball game in Detroit witnessed a wild goose chase on Wednesday, after a bird invaded the stadium and settled in right-center field during a sixth inning rain delay.

There was a quite literal wild goose chase at an MLB game between the Tigers and the Angels on Wednesday, as feathered fan invaded the stadium and settled in right-center field during a sixth inning rain delay.

The animal, later identified by experts as a Canada Goose, made itself at home on the field, entertaining fans during the weather-induced delay in the game but things took a turn for the bizarre when officials tried to remove the bird to resume the game

Attempts to remove the goose, which included setting off two fireworks in its vicinity, proved fruitless until the animal was chased by a steward and took to the air, flying directly into the stadium’s scoreboard and plummeting two levels into concerned spectators below.

Luckily for the animal, a veterinarian was attending the game and he was able to wrap the dazed animal in a blanket. He then released it on the concourse outside the stadium where it scurried off into nearby bushes.
