Man jailed for 30 months for killing alleged paedophile

A former boxer has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for killing an alleged paedophile. Aleksandr Kuznetsov admitted committing the crime, but said the man he killed had attempted to rape his 8-year-old stepson.

It was early in the morning on January 1, 2008. Aleksandr Kuznetsov claims he had taken his 8-year-old step-son out for a walk, but then they got separated.

He said that upon returning home, he found the boy on the landing, and on top of him – a man with his pants down.

Aleksandr, a former professional boxer, claims he was mad with rage:

“I didn't want to kill him. Blind rage just consumed everything. All the anger, the fury. When I calmed down, the police were here, and I was in cuffs.”

The man, a 20-year-old student from Uzbekistan Bakhtishod Khairallaev, died on the spot from head injuries.

According to Pavel Vymenets, Head of St. Petersburg Investigative Department, alleged paedophile Bakhtishot Khairillayev had no social life or criminal record.

The St Petersburg court ruled that the victim attacked and injured the boy.

Kuznetsov had previously served a suspended sentence for drug abuse.
