‘Game Of Thrones’ script leaked in major HBO cyberattack

‘Game Of Thrones’ script leaked in major HBO cyberattack
HBO was the target of a major cyberattack, resulting in yet-to-air episodes of multiple series, and “at least one apparent script” being leaked online.

HBO Chairman Richard Plepler called the hack “disruptive, unsettling and disturbing for all of us” in an email sent to employees Monday morning.

HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information,” the network said in a statement to RT.com.

We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cybersecurity firms. Data protection is a top priority at HBO, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect the data we hold.”

The hackers claim to have obtained some 1.5 terabytes of data and are threatening to leak even more info online, reports EW.

So far, upcoming episodes for the HBO series ‘Ballers’ and ‘Room 104’ have been leaked online, reports EW, along with an alleged script from the fourth episode of ‘Game of Thrones,’ due to air on the network next week.

HBO have yet to comment on exactly what data was compromised and it remains unclear who or what group was behind the attack, or what, if any, demands are being made.

In that same email, provided to RT by HBO, Plepler said that the problem is being addressed by “senior leadership and our extraordinary technology team, along with outside experts,” going on to call the team’s defensive efforts “nothing short of herculean.”
