Jihadists have reportedly engaged in a war of words with a young Muslim from the French city of Marseille since he posted a video online suggesting that Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) would be defeated in his city in no time if it were attacked.

A rant posted on Facebook by Henni Mohamed, a Marseille native of North African origin, has recently gone viral. His seven-minute reaction to threats to his city made by extremists has been watched 1.4 million times.

After Islamic State threatened to carry out more attacks in France, including in Marseille with its large immigrant population, the local Muslim resident didn’t seem to be intimidated, despite the recent attack in Nice, for which the terrorist group claimed responsibility, along with other terrorist acts in Europe.

We have got Kalashnikovs and rocket launchers, come to Marseille,” the guy said, adding that by attacking the city, IS would actually be at war with many Muslims. “There are only Muslims here, Algerians, Moroccans and French,” he said, accusing the jihadists of having “completely lost plot” and “having nothing to do with Islam.”

Mohamed’s video, which is full of offensive language, even reportedly prompted a response from IS itself.

And it’s apparently his choice of words that offended extremists the most. They went for a riposte, saying it was he who stained Islam by spewing “words of great vulgarity.”

Islamic State’s threat to attack Marseille has been widely mocked on Twitter, the Local reported. Some users have suggested that “there are more Kalashnikovs [there] than in Syria,” as the port city in southern France is infamous for its gangs.
