Early start for 2012 US presidential race

The recent local elections show, US President’s Barack Obama’s approval rating continues to decline. The frustration of failed promises is pushing many to look for alternative candidates, US political observers told RT.

Ron Paul, a Libertarian candidate for the 2012 presidency, seems to be riding the wave of Obama’s waning popularity and the American public’s increasing disillusionment with the two party system.

He is using this opportunity to get a head start in the election race.

According to John Dennis, a Congressional candidate who also has Libertarian views, Ron Paul’s increasing popularity is due to his decision to be loyal to principles:

“In the discussion of whether to be loyal to people or loyal to principles he made a decision, a while ago, to be loyal to principles, and people respect that,” Dennis said.

He also added that Ron Paul’s running in the 2012 elections would be a positive addition to the election:

“I think no matter what you think about him, he brings integrity and excitement to the political process,” Dennis stated.

Shelly Roche from the “Ladies of Liberty” Alliance thinks that although there are a number of factors linked to Ron Paul’s increasing popularity, only one is predominant:

“When you look at the direction we’re going as a country and all of these big, frightening things that are happening like the bail outs, the economy and healthcare, Ron Paul is the only voice of reason who is standing up and saying ‘we don’t need this, we have other options’”, Roche explained.

Roche is hopeful Ron Paul will run in the 2012 presidential race, but she also thinks that such a move is logically justified.
