Pacino and Hopkins flop earns less than £100 at UK box office

Carlito may have got paid but Al Pacino’s latest failed to earn even a £100 at the UK box office. Despite teaming the actor up with Anthony Hopkins the film barely earned enough to buy the actors a nice bottle of Chianti and some fava beans.

The producers will blame the heat wave engulfing the UK but they should probably consider the scathing reviews the film also received. Currently holding an 11 percent “rotten” rating on website Rotten Tomatoes the film has been ridiculed particularly for its laughable dialogue which included the line “be as calm as ice.”

The thriller, which also stars Josh Duhamel and Malin Akerman, was described by The Hollywood Reporter as a “by-the-numbers, forgettable thriller, starring actors whose marquee days are behind them, that is routinely dumped in theaters and on VOD. Showcased here are Anthony Hopkins and Al Pacino, reminding us that the 1970s and 1980s were a long time ago.”

Duhamel stars as a lawyer attempting to take down a corrupt pharmaceutical executive, played by Hopkins. Pacino shows up too to talk to Duhamel, a female character takes her clothes off and there’s a supposedly menacing looking guy on a motorbike.

It also looks like the film was made exclusively at night time, possibly with the intent of hiding Pacino and Hopkins from their shame.

Showing on just five screens in the UK the $11 million budget film took on average £19.40 per screen, according to the Guardian.

Anyone wondering if Pacino has really sold out look no further than Jack and Jill, a film described on Rotten Tomatoes as “impossible to recommend on any level whatsoever.”

Tony Montana was not happy upon watching the film.

Those with faith in Hopkins look away now. The thespian has been announced to show off his talents in none other than the Transformers franchise. A role that he is definitely doing for artistic integrity and not money.
