‘To be a cosmonaut:’ RT doc follows tight Roscosmos contest between 100s of aspiring space explorers

In the nation which sent the first man into orbit and where children dream of space travel it can be tough to win a seat on a rocket. RTD’s new film offers a glimpse into how cosmonaut candidates race to blast off to the stars.

From realizing dreams of flying, to catching a glimpse of home from the heavens, Roscosmos space program candidates Irina, Konstantin and Andrey all have their own reasons for dreaming of leaving the Earth.

However, competition is stiff. The applicants have taken on strict training regimes to prove their physical and mental fitness, in the hopes of winning out over the other candidates. From over 400 candidates that apply, only 8 will be chosen to become cosmonauts. Which of the resolute contenders will be selected as the world’s next spacefarers, and which will be left earthbound?
