Jane Elliot is best known as the teacher who, on April 5, 1968, the day after Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, put her third-grade students through a bold exercise to teach them about racial prejudice. For almost 50 years, she has been challenging preconceived ideas about racism and asking why anyone would judge a fellow human being by the color of their skin. So why are we still here?
