Travel has long fascinated the human imagination but until very recently it’s been the privilege of a select few. The growth of the global middle class has turned tourism into a major economic engine, responsible for about 10 percent of both global GDP and total employment. But with over a billion people now traversing the world each year in search of sunbeds and fridge magnets, is such growth sustainable?
