Jim Acosta: Another CNN corporate puppet

This week, Lee opens the show with commentary on a video of CNN’s Jim Acosta bumbling through a question that any journalist should be able to answer with ease: “Should Julian Assange be prosecuted for reporting on confidential information?” Acosta responds with a longwinded non-answer while he waits for his questioner to be removed from the room. The interaction accurately illustrates the relationship between corporate journalists and the powerful people they protect.

In the second half of the show, Lee sits down with Patrick Henningsen, the founder and editor of 21st Century Wire. Henningsen reported from Syria in 2017 and has based his journalistic career on questioning the narratives that are fed to the American people in order to strengthen narratives favored by the military industrial complex. They discuss the US’ growing economic wars, the war on WikiLeaks, and our military conflicts in Syria and Iraq.

With reality now seeming like a Shakespearean comedy, perhaps only comedy can truly bring truth to the people. DC-born comedian Lee Camp and a talented cast do just that with RT America’s first comedy show - Redacted Tonight with Lee Camp.
