“Bomb” in RT cameraman’s car was actually tracking device

A car belonging to one of RT’s cameramen working in the southern Russian Republic North Ossetia had tracking device planted in it. It was initially thought to be a bomb.

The car is Amir Amirov’s private property, but is used regularly for work purposes by him and other members of the crew, RT reporter Madina Kochenova said.

The beacon mounted underneath the car was found during a regular technical inspection.

It is not clear when it was planted or by whom.

Police are investigating the incident. They cordoned off the garage where the car is housed and called explosives experts to check it.

Only after close inspection was the device identified.
